Greetings once again D14. I come to you one last time to wrap our our video diary journey. As I was about to write this, I was reflecting upon the whole journey, and all the conversations I’ve had with folks. The direct feedback I’ve gotten from the rank and file – and I’m excited. I’m so ready to keep going for this bargaining unit next year as President.
Today the members of the release officer team sat in labour management to discuss the pressing issues of the day. These stories are always informed by your experiences. When Dave was speaking about laptops, I was hearing the feedback we got from teachers at CCI. When Trish was talking about issues around management rights, I was hearing stories from BHS. And when I was talking about support for co-curriculars I was speaking the strong words of advocacy given to me by Darcy Wight. We on release are as effective as we are because we do not assume we know the issues. We bring your stories, experiences and the data you provide us and bring them directly to the decision makers in KPR. This effective dialogue allows us to make improvements on the day to day without delay. While I wish I could say we landed every issue today — I am pleased with some of the outcomes of today that should be socialized in the system in the very near future.
The AGM is tomorrow, which means I’ll give my speech and then we will vote. The rules of the campaign is that once the AGM has completed, there is no more campaigning. This means my social media will be silent from Wednesday night onwards. I have one more special post ready to go for tomorrow (promise it’s not a video!) but otherwise, campaign is just about done.
I so appreciate you all. I can’t believe some of you watched every video. I’m so lucky to get to work for you all.
Take care, and please come to the AGM if you can. Message if you are not sure how to register (D14 members only!)
Take care,
Chris
