Greetings everyone! The weekend looms again! I hope that workload pressures as we head into the final few weeks of the semester that often creep up are well managed and more easily navigated than usual. We have heard loud and clear about how the assessment and evaluation policy tends to get rather creativity when we hit end of semester. I know you are all doing everything you can to get students to the finish line, but when it comes to students missing huge parts of the semester and offering you no data, please use your professional judgement when it comes setting norms for granting credits. Calling any of us in the office to talk about particular circumstances can help you prepare for hard conversations be it with parents or an administrator pressuring you last minute to change your plans. Trauma informed practice doesn’t mean no rules – it means open discussion. It means predictable norms. Much like any accomodation plan, it does not mean you alwyas get what you want – it is about what is reasonable. Reach out if anything gets a bit unusual over the next week weeks!
In what is a clearly a non sequitur, today’s video diary comes from Kenner. Kenner is a school that I have spent a lot of time at these past few years to support on a number of issues. Thankfully, due to the excellent branch leadership provided by Kristen Longley, we have navigated some tough issues and further change is on the horizon. I am so pleased not only to have Kristen’s endorsement, but also the support of so many from Kenner. It is you, as a staff, who have remained the best support for each other through all of this. There is work to be done still, and I’m here for you.
Please watch today’s video from Kenner and stay tuned for a double shot tomorrow!
Take care,
Chris
