Hello everyone! Happy Wednesday. I hope that your Wednesday has gone the speed you needed it to be today.
Today was a busy day as we spend a large portion of it with KPR’s director, Rita. We have regular meetings that we call “Ears” – perhaps having the ear of the director? It’s a space that can be high charged sometimes as we offer direct feedback, including local voice and survey results, directly to Rita. She takes these meetings on without other superintendents, but with representatives of all federations and OPC. We talked about challenging topics such as the budget, safe schools, dying laptops – and told her the truth. These spaces are so important to protect as they are an important means to seek out those small wins to build towards meaningful change over time. I have been so lucky to be at these meetings for the past 4 years and speak to Rita directly whenever I can. If I am elected President, I am glad to have already established a solid reputation in this space so I can continue to advocate and get the things you need to teach, and to help our schools run better.
Today’s video diary is for Crestwood! It’s been quite a run for Crestwood in the last while, with instability in the Principal role and other challenging issues to sort out. I am so glad I have been called to assist and represent with staff often, and truthfully, this branch continues to function well due to the solid leadership of Jeff Bird, Tessa, Steve and many others. I am so pleased to have the endorsement of many on staff, and wanted to shout out Anne Rutherford for her advocacy on my behalf. There are lots more of you as well, and I am so pleased for the many conversations we have had these past few weeks.
Please watch the video, and let’s talk anytime.
1 week til AGM and voting! I’m excited 🙂
Talk soon!
Chris
