Day 11 – Thomas A Stewart

Greetings D14 – I hope you have a lovely Tuesday! A large majority of our day at Federation House was spent doing a dry run of transfer/staffing day. It is always amazing to see Trish Schultz working her magic, pushing the board to do better to make sure the staffing day runs as smoothly as possible to grant people transfers. There are still some shoes to drop as we head towards that staffing day, which will be a full day of spreadsheets on May 29th! (hey everyone, the principals will all be at Kirby that day!) This is but one of the small parts of the job I’ve had the pleasure of doing over the past 4 years, but the outcomes mean so much to so many in our union.

In other news, the video diary continues! This time at Thomas A Stewart, which is easily the school with the best view, but is pretty amazing in lots of respects. One of our biggest schools, TASSS has specialized programming and works towards offering so much to all types of learners. But much like our other schools, there are pressures building in terms of budget that are interfering with these offerings.

While I’ve never had the pleasure of teaching at TASSS, from working closely with Steve Sharpe (thanks for the endorsement!), I know that TASSS has unique needs that a President needs to be aware of. Part of my vision for the Presidency is to make sure our strategic positons are more adaptable to local realities so that specialized programs can function, and our extra and co-curricular offerings are fulsomely supported. TASSS needs a President who is willing to listen to local voice and find creative solutions to get resources for all our schools, big or small, rural or urban.

TASSS, I’m here for you.

AGM is a week tomorrow!

Take care,

Chris
