Hello again everyone – time for a second post of the day! This entry is from Port Hope High School. Port Hope was the place where I got to do some of my teacher’s college placements, with the wonderful guidance of Jennifer Harden! How amazing is it to have someone cheering you on as a teacher for almost 20 years? I am always so appreciative when I hear that members of our union are stepping up still to take on teacher candidates. You never know what you might start, right Jen?
Port Hope is a school also in a state of flux, much like Clarke HS. There are boundary changes afoot and accommodate reviews to navigate. More importantly, it’s about how to leverage union pressure to get the supports and programming we need to make Port Hope High School viable and attractive to all types of students. I know as President how to advocate for those changes and how to support sites configured like this. I am excited for the Port Hope of the future, and continue to impressed by the staff at this school offering so much despite their size. Cheers to Phoebe, Kim and the rest of the staff of Port Hope. I’ve got your back always.
I hope your long weekend was restful and the summer vacation is now firmly on the horizon. You got this, D14.
