Happy Thursday everyone – only one more day until a well deserved long weekend.
I had a lovely visit with some colleagues at Adam Scott today, and had a great chat with some superstar staff from Kenner. I also spent time helping members with complicated medical situations navigate an ever-complex leave system. It takes time to work through appropriate accommodations, which is a duty of the employer to fulfill. Having knowledge and training in OHSA (H&S), HRC (Human Rights Code) and Employment Law never fails me on the daily. If I’m lucky enough to be elected President, I will make sure to pass on all this knowledge onto the future VP who will come after me. We need to build up everyone who is willing to step up and try something new. I promise to maintain transparent succession planning starting immediately.
Today’s video diary is talking about Courtice. I’m so pleased to have the supportof union reps Jennifer Buchner-Crosbie and Christina Azavedo – and I’m also lucky enough to work with a Courtice “grad” here in the office daily (Trish Schultz – our Director of Contract Enforcement). While I was never lucky enough to teach at Courtice, I’ve been directly involved in supporting the staff there through some complex situations. I’m just glad that the team there trusts me to come in, help turn down the temperature, and move onto solutions. I talk about this in my video below.
I hope you have a lovely evening – don’t forget to check out Dave’s email that should come out tomorrow.
Take care, message anytime.
Chris
