Hello everyone,
I apologize for the late posting today. I am still at the union office at 530 pm – we had some specific member issues that kept us quite late today. Sometimes that’s what happens though – and if we can get ahead of those problems and make a day better tomorrow, it’s worth a bit more time in the office. It was also the chance to catch up with a few members that I hadn’t talked to in a while and I am excited they are invested in the Presidential campaign.
I am excited to share today’s video diary entry – this time from Clarington Central. This is the school that really brought me to the fore when it comes to my leadership. I proudly served as branch rep in multiple roles at this school, and helped organize the 2019 strike. I built relationships with ETFO and CUPE staff at this building (Leigh-Anne Mondesire I see you!!!) that have lasted a decade. Whenever I go back and visit this school, it just feels right. This school offers so much and yet, we have had to be thorny together to push back against challenging administrative decisions often. But ultimately, we came out stronger for it and I think things have stablized to some degree. I hope you felt my role in that served your needs.
I am so pleased to be nominated for President by Melissa Wotherspoon – my colleague, my friend and my personal cheering section. Spoons, you rule. You inspire me to do this work. Your support means everything to me. There are so many people at this school I could tag, but I know I would miss someone. I hope you will be willing to say hello in the comments if you are out there. I can’t wait to see you all soon.
CCSS, I am here for you. See you at the vote!
Chris
