Happy Tuesday everyone. Today was a day where I was very pleased with the response to our hot building data collection campaign. We are working in partnership with ETFO to gather how well (or poorly) our schools are struggling to self-regulate. Hard to believe we had some buildings reporting temperatures north of 27C today! It wasn’t even that hot. Makes me realize that our buildings were not constructed with our climate realities in mind. The goal is to submit a report to the trustees on what we find by the end of the year, and to clearly report any heat-related sickness in a timely manner. Check your local union board for more details!
For today’s video diary we move onto CCI (which yes – can also get hot in June!). Cobourg is an amazing school that offers so much to their community. I remember when the East and West merged – the school that exists today is because of the hard work of the teaching staff to build it into the institution it is today. Because it is such a complex place, the President needs to be engaged with many different school board resources that impact service at the school, including Indigenous Education and LLS. I am ready to get into that work to ensure that sites like CCI get the resources they need.
Without further ado – today’s entry! Please reach out with any questions. So pleased with the many conversations I’ve had with CCI over the past two weeks!
